Product Metadata

The following metadata summary, and detailed metadata for GHI/DNI provide information about the gridded datasets. For example, information is provided about the format, spatial extents and analysis techniques used to generate the grids.

Title Himawari-8/9 surface global solar irradiance
Description Global horizontal solar irradiance grids. The grids show the solar irradiance values across Australia in the form of a two-dimensional array.
Custodian Bureau of Meteorology
Geographic extent name(s) Australia
Beginning/end dates July 2015 to present (historical data is available to customers with a 3-month lag).
Update frequency Instantaneous surface global solar calculated every 10 minutes (IDE00326) or 60 minutes (IDE00346) between 18:30 UTC and 11:30 UTC (inclusive) each day. This period represents the bounds of daylight hours for continental Australia.
Scale/resolution The resolution of the data is available on 0.02 degrees (IDE00326) and 0.05 degrees (IDE00346).
