Weather Situation
A weak ridge persists over the northeast and southwest. A trough extends from the northwest to the southeast of the state and will weaken over the next day or two. A weak cloud band will move over southern Queensland on Saturday, thickening over southeastern Queensland on Sunday. A new trough will move into the southwest on Sunday, moving into southern and central Queensland on Monday. Deeper moisture will be drawn over much of the state on Monday.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms in southern and central Queensland southeast of Longreach and in the Gulf Country District. Partly cloudy in the far southwest, mostly clear elsewhere. Possible smoke haze in the northern interior, the northwest, and in the southeast. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds in the far west, turning northeast to southeasterly elsewhere. Severe heatwave conditions in northern and central districts and the Wide Bay and Burnett District.
Friday 24 October
Isolated to scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm in eastern districts south of Moranbah and in the Gulf Country District. Isolated showers about the far northeast coast around Lockhart River and Coen. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Possible smoke haze north of Hughenden, apart from the east coast, and in the southeast. Possible morning fog in eastern districts south of Cairns. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds, turning northwest to northeasterly in eastern districts and northeast to southeasterly in Cape York Peninsula. Maximum temperatures near average in the far southwest and over northern Cape York Peninsula, above average elsewhere, and tending well above average in southeastern Queensland. Severe heatwave conditions in northern and central districts and the Wide Bay and Burnett District.

Isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in eastern districts south of Mackay and in the northwest. Isolated showers about the east coast north of Cooktown and in the far southwest. Partly cloudy near the NSW border, mostly sunny elsewhere. Possible morning fog in eastern districts south of Cooktown. Maximum temperatures above average, tending well above average in southern and central districts, mostly inland. Severe heatwave conditions in northern, central, and eastern districts.
Sunday 26 October
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms in western, central, and southern districts. Possible severe thunderstorms in southeastern Queensland. Isolated to scattered showers over northern Cape York Peninsula. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Possible morning fog in the southeast. Maximum temperatures above average, tending well above average in southern and central districts. Severe heatwave conditions in northern, central, and eastern districts.
Monday 27 October
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, tending to only showers to the north of Cooktown. Maximum temperatures near average inland in western Queensland and the northern interior, above average elsewhere, and tending well above average in eastern districts south of Mackay. Severe heatwave conditions in northern districts.
