Weather Situation
Northern Western Australia
A trough extending southwards into the interior moves east on Friday and Saturday as another broad area of low pressure forms in its wake. A ridge extends into the northern half of the State on Monday.
Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough extending south through the Gascoyne moves east ahead of a cold front reaching the southwest corner early Friday morning. The cold front moves inland as a new ridge builds across the south of the state, with a west coast trough developing on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Possible showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Interior, inland east-central Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, and southeastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers arriving late in the evening about the South West Capes.
Friday 24 October
Showers south and west of a line from Shark Bay to Merredin to Israelite Bay, most widespread across the South West and Lower West. Chance of a thunderstorm about the southern districts. Possible showers and storms over the Kimberley, inland east-central Pilbara, Interior, Eucla and northern and eastern Goldfields. Thunderstorms may become severe with damaging winds and hail in the eastern parts of the South Interior and Eucla. Fresh and gusty winds across much of the State bar the Kimberley and North Interior. Possible early fog over the eastern Central West, inland South Coastal District, and western parts of the Central Wheat Belt and Great Southern.
Saturday 25 October
Showers south and west of a line from Kalbarri to Israelite Bay, most likely through about the south coastal districts and in the morning across the Lower West and South West. Chance of showers and thunderstorms over east-central parts of the Kimberley and North Interior. Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm clearing from the Eucla and gradually contracting eastward in the South Interior. Fresh and gusty winds over the southern Goldfields, South East Coastal District, Eucla and South Interior.
Sunday 26 October
Generally light showers possible south of a line from Geraldton to Warburton, most likely over the South West. Slight chance of a thunderstorm in the Central Wheat Belt and adjacent Great Southern. Possible showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon, over the the east-central Kimberley and eastern North Interior. Areas of early fog over inland southern and western parts of the South West Land Division.
Monday 27 October
Chance of showers, mainly in the morning, about the south coast to the east of Hopetoun and in the southern Interior. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north and east Kimberley. Fresh and gusty winds in the morning over the northern Goldfields, South Interior, northern Gascoyne and eastern Pilbara. Mostly sunny in the Central West, Lower West and Central Wheat Belt. Possible early fog inland from the west coast to the south of Jurien Bay, and over adjacent parts of the Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt.
